League House is an independent living facility owned and operated by Social Service League of La Jolla and provides affordable housing and meals for seniors.
Seniors are among the most vulnerable populations when it comes to housing. With rent increasing at a rate of more than 8 percent a year, many seniors on fixed incomes are unable to keep the pace. The median monthly income for residents is just $1,400, leaving a gap between market housing costs and available resources, particularly in San Diego.
League House has been filling this gap by providing seniors affordable apartments for eligible low-income residents who pay just one third of their income for rent and utilities. Residents are able to live out their years with peace of mind knowing their rent will remain steady year after year as it is tied to their income.
