A New Chapter Begins: Leadership Transition Strengthens SSL’s Future

For more than 75 years, the Social Service League of La Jolla (SSL) has remained dedicated to its mission of providing affordable housing and nutritious meals to seniors in need. Today, we are proud to share an important step forward as we enter a new phase of growth and sustainability.

SSL is implementing a strategic leadership transition with the appointment of a new Board of Directors. This evolution reflects our commitment to strengthening governance and ensuring we are well-positioned to meet the needs of our community—now and in the future.

The incoming board members bring a diverse range of professional expertise, fresh perspectives, and broader representation from across San Diego County. Together, they will guide SSL’s strategic direction, provide financial oversight, and support continued philanthropic growth.

This transition has been carefully designed to ensure stability, transparency, and uninterrupted services for the seniors we serve. Residents, partners, and donors can expect the same high level of care—along with new opportunities for expanded impact.

At the same time, we are honored to continue the involvement of former board members through the newly established Social Service League of La Jolla Auxiliary. This structure strengthens SSL by clearly distinguishing governance responsibilities from volunteer engagement, aligning with nonprofit best practices.

With a strong leadership foundation in place, SSL is positioned to expand its reach, deepen partnerships, and continue serving seniors with excellence for decades to come.
